The Girl on the Train released in 2016 is a crime thriller mystery movie based on the novel of the same name written by Paula Hawkins. The story follows an alcoholic divorcee who gets entangled with a missing persons investigation. The movie grossed $173.2 million worldwide and Emily Blunt gained nomination at BAFTA Awards 2017, Screen Actors Guild Awards 2017 and Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA 2017 for her performance as Rachel Watson in the movie.

Hawkins wrote “Confessions of a Reluctant Recessionista” a romantic comedy fiction in 2009 that followed three more novels of the same theme under the pet name Amy Silver ;“All I want for Christmas (2010), One Minute to Midnight (2011) and The Reunion (2013).  In 2001 with co author Grace Llewellyn , “Guerrilla Learning: How to Give Your Kids a Real Education With or Without School” was published under the same pet name Amy Silver.   She could not achieve great financial success through them and later decided to write stories on crime and thriller  instead of comedy and romance. As a result “The Girl on the Train” novel was presented  to the readers making Hawkins an international sensation. The novel was published in 50 countries  and over 40 languages and 18 millions copies have been sold worldwide.
