#1 - Pelé

Born in 1940, Edson Arantes do Nascimento is a Brazilian football player; retired and is world renowned as the best footballer ever. He won the World Player of the Century by IFFHS with the most votes. Moreover, he was chosen by the International Olympic Committee as the Athlete of the Century. Scoring 1281 goals in 1363 games and 650 goals in 694 League matches, Pelé is regarded as the most successful goal-scoring football player. After his retirement in 1977, he had undertaken commercial projects and is a worldwide ambassador.

The current manager of the Mexican football second division club, Diego Armando Maradona was born in Argentina, 1960. Maradona earns a top place in the list of top 10 best soccer players. Maradona won a joint award with Pelé for the FIFA player of the 20th Century. His astonishing skills in dribbling, ball control and passing together with his height of 5’5” ft, gifted him low centre of gravity allowing him to have better control at the game. In the field, Maradona was an attacking midfielder and a second striker.

#3 - Zinedine Zidane

Nicknamed Zizou, Zinedine Yazid Zidane, born in 1972 was a French footballer, currently serving as a football coach. He is a leading playmaker whilst having excellent vision and ball controlling techniques which earned him a spot as an attacking midfielder in Real Madrid, Cannes, Bordeaux and Juventus. Zidane held a world record for 8 years by moving to Real Madrid for €77.5 million. He was acclaimed as a national hero in France following the victory of the France team in 1998 FIFA world cup under his captaincy.

The president of Inter Miami CF, David Robert Joseph Beckham is also the co-owner of Salford City. The 43-year-old, retired English footballer played for the England National Team, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, etc. He is honoured as the first English player to win titles in 4 countries: France, Spain, USA and England. In his career of 20 years, he won 19 main awards. Beckham is celebrated as one of the greatest midfielders and right-wingers for as excellent bending free kicks, crossing ability and passing.

Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima is acclaimed as “The Phenomenon” who played the position of striker has topped the list of legendary football players. The Brazilian footballer showed exceptional skills in clinical finishing, dribbling and feints. He represented clubs such as PSV, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Cruzeiro. Born in Italy, 1968, Paolo Cesare Maldini is a retired defender and left back for the Italy national team and A.C Milan. In his 25 year career, he played for Serie A with Milan. By the time of his retirement in 2009, he won 7 Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia award, 5 European Super Cups, 5 UEFA Champions League awards and more. Maldini held the record for the most appearances made as Italian national team’s captain whilst representing Italy in 3 UEFA European Championships and 4 FIFA World Cups.

Playing as a forward for Juventus and as the captain of Portugal National Team, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, aged 34, is on top of the list of famous soccer players.  Considered one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo is the first to win 4 European Golden Shoes. He has won 27 awards in his career up-to-date, which includes League titles and 5 UEFA Champions League titles. This exceptional player holds the records for the most official goals scored in Top 5 Leagues in Europe.

An Argentinian footballer born in 1987, playing forward and is the captain of the Argentina National Team and the Barcelona club is Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini. Been acknowledged as one of the best players of his generation, his performances in Milan showcased his brilliant ability as a playmaker. Having impressed football fans all over the world, he is one of the eight players to win the Ballon d’Or, UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup. Having gained success in Milan, he joined Real Madrid with the second highest transfer fee of €67 million.
